Rotorua International Airport
After struggling to progress their revamp with another web design company, the CEO of the Rotorua International Airport contacted us to ask for our assistance.
They wanted a clean, professional website built on a robust, easy to use content management system (CMS). With all our experience with WordPress, we recommended they use that to power their site and once they had learnt of the benefits and how easy it was to manage they were happy to use it.
Astro Accommodation Taupo
The owners of Astro Accommodation Taupo wanted a clean, modern website that was easily to update and that could push content from their blog to their Facebook and Twitter social media accounts.
It was a simple decision to use the WordPress content management system (CMS) to power their revamped site and once they had learnt of the benefits and how easy it was to manage they were happy to use it.

For many years the Rotorua Education Network (REN) website was part of the Official Rotorua tourism website, rotoruaNZ.com. In 2009 the REN committee decided that they wanted to create their own unique and eye-catching website to better promote their services.

Mark and his father Neil have a successful international business fitting central tyre inflation systems to trucks that they design and have developed themselves.
They wanted to bring their outdated site into the 21st century, to give it a new lease on life and to give them the ability to take control over the content from anywhere.
Kiwibikes – Custom Bike Frames
Iconic Rotorua bike builder, Jeff Anderson from Kiwibikes has been a hosting client of ours since April, 2008 and recently completed some re-branding with a new logo.
He’s also in the process of moving his premises to next door to Rotorua’s cycling friendly cafe, Zippys.

Kim & Andrew Martin from the new Rotorua DMC, Red Carpet Rotorua were recommended to us by a few different people, so that was nice. They just wanted a simple, clean, professional website that they could maintain themselves.

Rotorua Museum of Art & History
The marketing manager from the Rotorua Museum initially approached us wanting to convert their existing design from ASP to PHP to switch to more affordable linux based hosting to reduce their ongoing hosting costs. While this was easily achievable, we also migrated the static content into a WordPress content management system (CMS) allowing multiple content editors to access and update the site easily from anywhere in the world.
Regent Flashpackers
After the success of the Regent of Rotorua website, the client who also brought and transformed a small inner-city ‘dorm’ style accommodation ask Hodgeman Web & Design to setup another site for their new smart, urban flashpackers.
Basic Instincts
A local hunting and fishing guide, Mike Parker from Basic Instincts approached us for a re-design of his out-dated site. Within his limited budget we managed to put together this ‘book’ design that tells a great story of his business and showcases previous catches and kills.
Avenue Heights Motel
While touring Northland in January 2009, we stayed at Avenue Heights Motel in Whangarei and got chatting to the owners, Melva and Allan. Eventually the topic of conversation came to what do you do for a living and the rest is history. Allan and Melva wanted a modern, clean looking website that portrayed their motel in better light than their old site.

Regent of Rotorua
The Regent of Rotorua went through a major transformation at the end of 2008 turning it into a stylish modern boutique hotel with a touch of glamour. The new owners have turned the 1950s Rotorua inner-city motel complex into a fantastic oasis of understated contemporary elegance and comfort.
Red Spot Design
Glenn McLeary from Red Spot Design approached me to turn his website design into a reality. We optimised and exported the required imagery from the supplied Photoshop file and began coding the design into a valid XHTML / CSS design.
Rotorua Sustainable Tourism Charter
The Rotorua Sustainable Tourism Charter is a grass roots initiative. It is being developed and operated by the local tourism industry, and designed to create strategies that protect the natural and physical environment.
We built the site on the fantastic WordPress blogging/CMS platform and custom designed a clean theme with lots of white space and the natural grass element to tie it into the sustainable theme.
Fig Tree Cafe
Fig Tree Cafe is an awesome little 60 seater cafe in Upper Hutt, were I used to live, that is inside a charming restored chapel. It’s food and coffee is absolutely amazing and somewhat of a local buzz and they needed a funky website that they could update themselves with news and updates.
Watermania
Watermania is a new start-up waterskiing and wakeboarding company in Rotorua, New Zealand. Offering a charter service on all the great lakes around Rotorua. Watermania approached us wanting our complete business start-up package. Logo design, brochure DLE rack card, business cards and a clean, no nonsense professional website to drive people to contact the owner. We used the great Mootools javascript framework to do some smart page transitions and image galleries. The client couldn’t be happier and we think it’s pretty tidy too.
ASTRAY Motel & Backpackers, Rotorua
ASTRAY Motel & Backpackers, Rotorua, previously Microtel Rotorua, wanted to break away from their chain and re-invent themselves. We were contracted to design a new logo, design business cards, brochure rack cards, and of course and outstanding website. Built on a WordPress CMS/Blogging platform which puts the power back into the clients control to edit the content of the site.
The Redwoods, Rotorua
The Redwoods, Rotorua was looking for a professionally designed website that was inline with the rotoruaNZ.com family of websites and enlisted the help of a local graphic designer to design the look of the site. I took those designs and brought them to life with flash, transparencies and accordion style pages. They are extremely pleased with the final product.
ADRA
ADRA or Adventist Development & Relief Agency International wanted help with redesigning and hosting their new look site. Built on a WordPress blogging/CMS, which allows total control of the content from the web administrators. Designed from the ground up to align with the international website.
Paparoa Park Motels
The Paparoa Park Motels wanted a fresh new look that captured the feel of their new motel units. Using the wood grain background to show the units and the olive green to symbolize the surrounding nature. I also created a flash site to accompany the plain html version shown in the images here.
Profiles Rotorua
Profiles Rotorua was commissioned in September 2006. Being the ONLY gym in Rotorua which has Les Mills aerobics classes, Profiles felt it was important to have a internet presence. Designed with a clean professional look using silhouettes of people, Profiles are now generating fresh new customers from having a window to the world.
